First delivery in sight for the ACJ320 airstair

Proving its ability to react and adapt in a difficult period, the Aerostructures branch was selected in the middle of the pandemic to lead the reindustrialization project of the passenger airstair of the VIP version of the A320 of Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ), an XXL-sized business aircraft that connects the biggest capitals non-stop. The first delivery is scheduled for June 2021.

The electromechanical airstair is around 4 meters tall, it folds and stows in the baggage hold, under the door. This is a series-produced piece of equipment, which means that it is featured on all the models in this family of aircraft. The added value of this equipment is a definite increase in autonomy in airports around the world where the aircraft may land. It offers greater freedom of operation.

The production of the airstair is mainly internalized, and relies on the synergy of the Latecoere sites. The Toulouse-Montredon (France) and Prague (Czech Republic) factories manufacture some of the elementary parts, and final assembly is carried out in Gimont (France). It is also an inter-branch project since the Interconnection Systems teams are involved in the electrical aspects of the airstair.
